Kaplan College's Vet Tech program is a 22-month (days) or 24-month (nights) program emphasizing hands-on animal skills and training to enable you to perform many duties under the supervision of a veterinarian. Upon graduation, you'll receive an Associate of Occupational Studies Degree.

The objectives of the Vet Tech program are to help students:

1) Develop skills in animal anesthesia, examination and treatment, radiography, operating room techniques, reception and record keeping, medication, feeding and maintaining proper sanitation.

2) Develop proficiency in performing laboratory tests related to the diagnosis and proper care of animals.

3) Develop skills in effective communication and proper public relations.

4) Develop a proficiency and skill level that assists the graduate to become certified (licensed) under state law.

You will also gain real-world veterinary technician experience during two required clinical externships.

Advanced certification is also available in emergency care, critical care, dentistry and anesthesia. Program graduates can sit for the national boards as well as their choice of state boards.
